Ford Fiesta achieved honors a matter of safety

Ford Fiesta receives the highest safety ratings in eight popular car models for front crash test recently conducted by the ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) which was inaugurated.

The press release says Ford Indonesia, four-door Ford Fiesta 1.6L earn the highest rating in independent crash test first for ASEAN car safety specifications to achieve a 5 star rating for protection of adult users (Adult occupant Protection / AOP) and the value of 66 percent for child occupant protection children (Child Protection occupant / COP), reaching the highest evaluation score of 15.73 out of a full 16.

Neal McCarthy, Communications Director, ASEAN, Ford Motor Company called “Fiesta provide multidimensional protection for its users, which is offered by the airbag which is enabled by smart car body stiffness, and careful attention to defining the Fiesta and safety performance.”

Beneath Fiesta’s stylish exterior there is a high-strength structures are arranged to maintain the quality and increase the safety of drivers and passengers. More than half of the car body structure is made from high-strength steel, including a dual-phase steel strength Boron steel is very high and extremely high strength.

These components add rigidity and reducing weight, increasing structural efficiency while also helping Fiesta produces high fuel economy.

Fiesta also comes with safety features to help protect users during a crash. Fiesta serves a wide range of advanced safety equipment and passive safety technologies, including seven airbags, driver and passenger airbags for the front seats, side-chest airbags, and the main water inflatable curtain for front seat passengers and rear.

Airbag sensor calibration test series have also been made to ensure the airbag can be activated correctly and on time when it is most needed to provide a more secure protection.

Power-steering unique E-PAS provides a sense of control over both the rider and increase agility while conquering the bend. ABS (double-circuit four-wheel anti-braking) and EBD also contribute in enhancing active safety car.

Bearing front seat backs are designed to provide protection against impact injuries of the head. In addition, the shell-shaped hood, windshield, and sporty three-wing curve on the front bumper, as well as other design elements, such as the stylish headlights, grill series on the shock-absorbing bumper, designed with pedestrian safety in order to minimize the possibility of injury.

All-new Ford Fiesta was introduced in ASEAN in 2010, and manufactured at Ford’s joint venture, AutoAlliance Thailand, in Rayong, Thailand. In 2012, Ford has sold more than 43,210 Ford Fiesta in ASEAN, up 26 percent compared to 2011.
